Fur and Fangs rather than Feathers and Beaks

10,000 Birds

I remember the guide on my first Kenyan birding safari remarking that “birding groups always see far more mammals than those who come just to see animals. At the time (1968) sightings of lynx in the Doñana were extremely rare as the animals were so shy: I was extremely fortunate to have this encounter. (I

Birding Tongbiguan, Yunnan (part 1)

10,000 Birds

One of my cats claims that the males taste better than the females (“too sour”), but then that cat has told me many lies before – I still think it more likely it has never eaten any minivet in its life. A giant squirrel, actually. Attack of the giant squirrels from Mars. Or something like that.

Baby skunk update

Reddit Animals

I won't try to grab them, but I look out for them and chase the stray cats away. My yard is always so full of animals paying me a visit, that it's become a Disney princess satire. The birds know my voice and this one beat up looking squirrel actually comes right up to me. I'm a modern druid or Artemis lol.

Keep finding decapitated mice/rats under car

Reddit Animals

I have never once seen a cat anywhere in my neighborhood. None of my neighbors have cats and I'm only aware of one dog owner blocks away. Lots of squirrels, chipmunks, deer, rabbits. I'm sure most people would say probably a cat. or even this city for that matter. but that's pretty much it for mammals.

2) If the rabbit is in danger such as from your cat or dog try to release it out of the perimeter. Domestic animal shelters don’t normally take wildlife and if they do it’s rare. Kitten milk replacement with heavy cream works in a pinch but squirrel or rabbit milk replacement is the only real substitute. I would rather educate.
