Pied Oystercatcher breeding season is here again!

Well, not quite like clockwork, because this year one pair of Pied Oystercatchers on Cable Beach laid their first clutch of eggs a bit earlier than normal. This year the first clutch was laid at the end of May and this is the first time we have had eggs laid in May along Cable Beach since 2000. appeared first on 10,000 Birds.

We have continued to monitor the nest sites and the pairs of Pied Oystercatchers over the past few months and the birds are really having a tough year this year. In fact they have not just laid once again, but many pairs have laid up to five clutches of eggs this season. Normal size and under-sized Pied Oystercatcher eggs.
