The group I was guiding saw and heard a few pairs of these special birds along with Black-capped Flycatcher, Black-cheeked Warblers, Long-tailed Silky-Flycatchers , and so many other wonderful birds of the cool, high elevations. A bird of treeline and paramo habitats in Costa Rica and Panama, this wren is a main target for visiting birders.

There's now a litter in my yard and still no sign of Mama, although they may just be exploring their territory. I was heartbroken because I thought one was orphaned but now that they travel as a group, I'm less upset. They're hiding on my patio, behind the recycle cans. All of them are tiny and impossibly cute.

As I was driving out, I stopped to appreciate a small group of American Flamingos flying overhead. Nothing could move around in the leaf litter without full attention from this Ferruginous Pygmy-Owl. Before long, the fact that I had left home without having breakfast started to catch up to me, and I sought to appease that beast.

The litter consists of two males and one female. The cubs will rotate separate sessions on the habitat with the Bengal tiger groups that currently reside there. Three endangered Malayan tiger cubs were born at Busch Gardens Tampa Sunday, March 31. These births are critical to help preserve the species.

Wildlife concentrates at the Floe Edge, and although we just missed Narwhal as pack ice moved in just after we arrived, the place was littered with Polar Bear. Luckily attacks are rare, but we made plans to stay in a refuge cabin at the point, and joined up with a group that had brought a dog, which acts as an early warning system.

Additionally, this split would mean that birders need to cut their time short in prime habitats to allow for sufficiant time in degraded, littered shrubs that hold little else that is of interest to them – just the Brown Prinia.

The scimitar gave the name to a group of birds, the 17 species of scimitar babblers (claims that these birds were named after the Scottish naturalist Edgar Scimitar, 1755-1806, are plainly wrong). Shearwater remains litter the island with the carcasses picked clean, leaving just the wings, breastbone and girdle. Sadly the presence of such an easy food supply draws the predations of Greater Black-backed Gulls who catch them as they arrive and depart from their burrows.
