An Emerging Trend

Forest floor/leaf litter specialists, Golden-crowned Warblers often move in pairs. There are a few more groups of 3 within our resident bird population here in T&T. Males love to sing from chosen vantage points while females tend to remain hidden most of the time.

Red-tailed Black-Cockatoos return to Broome

They have very powerful beaks and claws and it is not uncommon to see where they have been by the leaf litter below the large trees. The small group of seven Red-tailed Black-Cockatoos that we observed most recently were busy feeding on a native tree. They are still destructive as they feed in the native trees.

White-crested Laughingthrush in Singapore

They were searching for food and there was a family group of eight birds. They also move around in groups of eight and bounce around among the vegetation. White-crested Laughingthrush in the leaf litter. The White-crested Laughingthrush on the ground hopped about throwing leaves around too.

Singapore’s Red Junglefowl

Most family groups of Red Junglefowl included around three young birds being fed by the female. The female Red Junglefowl and her young were often observed in the leaf litter. The family group stayed close together feeding and were quite camouflaged with only the sound of the rustling leaves giving them away.
