Rockpipers are present here on the rocky shores and jetties of the outer harbor from early fall through the middle of spring. Aside from birds, people really seem to like Island Foxes. The Nature Conservancy owns much of it, while the National Park Service owns the eastern end. They are small and adorable. Many are fearless.

A sudden splash alerted us to a large creature being present at an ephemeral lake recently and it was followed by another sound of a creature climbing a tree in front of us. Native flying fox. There is a family of feral foxes that I often encounter near Bennison Creek. Foxes were introduced to Australia in 1855 for hunting and have established themselves far and wide. Foxes have recently arrived around our home town of Broome, but we have only seen those that have been hit by traffic. White-eared Honeyeater.

Another impressive Brooklyn shorebird sighting by the Brookynites was of ten Hudsonian Godwits at Floyd Bennett Field, though that paled in comparison to the flock of 22 Hudwits spotted flying up the Hudson River upstate in Kingston, Ulster County, by Susan Fox Rogers, Peter Schoenberger, and Mark DeDea.
