Through multi-partnerships, cooperation, federal funding, and the private conservation efforts of one family, 616 acres were officially added to the Cherokee National Forest in September 2018. Black-backed Woodpeckers and Forest Fires in California and the West

I had taken the short drive to the park to search for a family of American Dippers sighted near the visitor center by a fellow birder a few days before.
