While Long-tailed Shrikes are the second hand car dealers of the Nanhui bird world, some of the other members of the shrike family are a bit more subtle. This is the home of the Rusty-naped Pitta , admittedly one of the less glamorous of the family, particularly the subspecies found in Yunnan, but still a nice sight and still a pitta. No doubt, the Lesser NLT will be relieved not to be bossed around by its erstwhile bigger family member anymore. I wonder why.

This beautiful Northern Flicker hit the window of a Family Dollar store in Beacon, NY. Lia and Skye met in the parking lot of the Family Dollar store to release her. Skye manned the video camera, Lia opened the door, and the flicker rocketed out and into the woods. That awful sound of a bird hitting a window. What comes next?
