He just doesn't believe that other beings lives might have a purpose all their own that is entirely unrelated to humans.

The idea of family is currently being used by the dairy industry in a series of commercials with the tag line: "99% of dairy farms are family owned." Buying dairy products supports them.

The Plain Sunbird is the plain vanilla version of the otherwise often very colorful family (ok, a very low-budget sort of joke). Both are part of what one paper calls the Brown Hawk Owl complex – something that is much less objectionable than the military-industrial complex but (at least to me) not really a lot more interesting.

I have a day in Sydney with my sister and family and then go home to Broome… hopefully not delayed by the threat of a Qantas baggage handlers strike starting Tuesday morning as I try to fly north-west. On top of that there is the Nakdong River and there is still birdlife despite all the industry and pollution.

The reason we need to save the gorillas and their habitats (it's a book on gorilla "conservation") is--and this is from memory so there could be more--that gorillas have thumbs, just like humans do. Also, the have families (as if other animals don't). Meanwhile, the lizard has a male name so you'd think he'd be called "he."
