The Coalition to Ban Horse-Drawn Carriages calls itself "an animal rights-protection-abolitionist organization," which I find interesting. The well being of the horses should be the ideal of every organization whose mandate is to put animal protection ideals first - especially when they ask for donations based on that mandate.

What’s Up with the ABA?

The ABA’s mission statement is vague: “The American Birding Association inspires all people to enjoy and protect wild birds.” The ABA’s education programs promote birding skills, ornithological knowledge, and the development of a conservation ethic. An organization under threat of financial collapse cannot be effective.

They look crap but presumably offer some protection for the chicks, though not from each other (see the murderous activities within the nests in my previous post ). A kingfisher with a somewhat deficient work ethic, I guess. Blue-throated Bee-eaters build nests on sticks sticking out of the water. Or speluncaphobia?

A new stamp that establishes an unambiguous revenue stream for our National Wildlife Refuges while resonating with the values and ethics of the non-hunting community. The National Wildlife Refuge system is one of America’s greatest treasures. A Wildlife Conservation Stamp !
