She should have bailed but, game gel that she is, took a huge leap, slipped and spread-eagled on landing. Lady Helen’s thundering progress kicked up the turf and brought opportunities for our resident Eurasian Blackbirds. She had already scored 8 faults and a refusal by the time she reached the water.

I took my son to his first baseball game and my first exposure to the local minor league franchise, the Rochester Red Wings. Typical of many sports mascots , the Rochester Red Wings’ spirit animal doesn’t look much like its namesake, assuming the team is named for a Red-Winged Blackbird. And the Red Wings won… nice!
