It was an exciting experience, though a remarkably chilly one, as winters in Castile and León can be very cold. A Red Fox in Georgia, not looking very red I’ve never been to Svalbard, so I haven’t ticked off polar bear, but I have seen brown bears on a number of occasions in both Romania and Bulgaria. in the evening.

Best Bird of the Weekend (Fourth of September 2015)

Corey’s Best Bird of the Weekend was one of the several Black Vultures that went overhead during a family hike to Anthony’s Nose in the Hudson Valley. The birding wasn’t very exciting but the hike was nice and allowed a nice view of Bear Mountain, the Bear Mountain Bridge, and the Hudson River. How about you?

Birding – While Camping – North Lake State Park, Greene County, New York

That’s right, I, along with my family and some really good friends, was camping. Our campsite was gorgeous North Lake State Park in the Catskill Mountains of upstate New York, where the air is crisp, the forests are largely intact, and the bears force you to be careful about leaving food out when you go to sleep. I like phoebes.
