The recently released 2014 State of the Birds Report lists the Bank Swallow as one of the common birds in steep decline. The Bank Swallow was listed as a threatened species in California in 1989 by the California Fish and Game Commission and the number of breeding pairs has declined steadily since then.

The lighthouse at the point itself has been a nest-site to a pair of Eastern Ospreys for many years and they fish in the waters around the point. It is a beautiful location with bright red cliffs and a wide variety of shorebirds during our summer months, though not in the large numbers that you may observe in other places around Broome.
