We got a rescue a few years back (sasha) and she was awful. I ended up taking her to the vet thinking it was an anxiety issue. When we took her to the vet last to tell them the anxiety meds made it worse and she’s still not eating unless she’s on a very expensive steroid he said that there’s nothing physically wrong with her.

This bird was lucky to be found and rescued by a Good Samaritan in this remote area. Ipsen of Payson Family Pet Hospital in Payson, Utah, is our wildlife vet and very skilled at orthopedic surgeries. He has been our vet for many years and sees many of our patients in need of surgery. This was going to be a tough case.

To his credit, the farmer was distraught and offered to pay any vet bills which might ensue, and has since learned how to paint his trees with a lighter hand. There were no actual vet bills to pay, as the two vets consulted donated their time; but in terms of time and labor spent, this is a million-dollar owl.
