We got a rescue a few years back (sasha) and she was awful. I ended up taking her to the vet thinking it was an anxiety issue. We have been trying for two years to get her into the shelter because we are at our wits end and don’t know what to do. Every shelter we check is full. Rott/pit/black lab mix. It is ALWAYS FULL.

The vet supplied information on where the owners lived. Through our foundation and shelter we got surgery for little Chi that same day. The Vet said Chicharito was in too much pain and that he had to be fixed immediately. A few hours later, the Vet said Chicharito would be fine; the leg had healed so they just removed the plate.

Many dogs are rescued out of abusive or traumatic situations, causing them to exhibit a wide variety of emotional and behavioral problems. Juliet and Foxy, a Terrier mix and a Chow Chow/Cocker Spaniel mix, are my rescues. Before I ever started with the training of Juliet and Foxy, I arranged for vet appointments.

The internet evolved, and this site was created with a bigger, better vision, but the goal remained the same… help animals find homes through promoting rescue groups. Rescue Spotlight is going to be an ongoing feature here where we hope to highlight rescue groups to help them get more exposure online.

Contribute to rescue efforts. But when safe, able workers and members of rescue organizations are needed to work hands-on in countries in need. Veterinarians, technicians and others can volunteer to travel to Chile to help groups such as World Vets. Most organizations aiding pets in devastated areas are not-for-profit.

I volunteer for a local animal rescue so I took the dog off her hands, but since this dog hasn’t had medical care, he can’t yet be housed in a shelter as it could put both him and the other animals at risk.
