They will also kill any water birds they can capture, from Kingfishers to Mallard. I’ve yet to see an English pine marten, but I once watched one hunting red squirrels in the Bialowieza Forest in Poland. Mink are voracious predators, and responsible for the huge decline in water voles in the UK.

I assumed it was a squirrel, but it kept happening. It turns out, the noise is called a "blow" and it means that there is a threat from a distance that other deer need to know about, or they could get killed/injured. So here's something that happened to me a couple minutes ago. now, I don't know much about deer.
