I also spent a week in northwestern Costa Rica on a family vacation, a long weekend in Barbados, a week in Georgia, and two week-plus-long trips to visit relatives in southern California. Let’s get right into it, shall we? Our family trip to Barbados was mostly about the beach but it was also chock full o’birds!

The result is that on one level he knows that hurting sentient nonhumans isn't right, but if it's done in a certain respectful way (oxymoron, anyone?) He romanticizes his childhood usage of animals as if that was the right way to do it , and he longs for those days. it's not so bad.

Zamora Estate protects acres of unspoiled habitat within one of the fastest growing sections of San Jose, a holding that has sustained four generations of the Zamora family. I didn’t have long to spend at the sanctuary, having not really planned to visit it at all. If I had more time I could have hiked around to find one of the star attractions, Gouldian Finches , but I had gone there mainly to find two of my target families, storks and cranes.

These consist of Red-crowned Crane , Blakiston’s Fish-Owl , and Steller’s Sea-Eagle – all among the most massive and spectacular representatives of their families. The next couple hours was a blur of camera shutters, during which I took ~1,200 photos of the 3 fish-owls that took turns coming in to fish right in front of our lodging.
