Cooperative Connecticut Warbler in Queens

Danny let us know about a bird he had earlier that he was convinced was a Connecticut Warbler , something I teased him about because he has never seen one and it was fun to tell him that he actually had a Nashville Warbler , of which there were at least two in the park. This is just an absurd situation for a Connecticut Warbler to be in.

The Collective added six new states in the past three years, but none have eclipsed the century mark: Wisconsin ( 74 ), Utah (55), Hawaii (38), Oklahoma (18), Rhode Island (9), and Connecticut (5). Of course, the Collaborative will also continue to work on the global map as well. Even the nation’s capital has been ignored.

Neversink Spirits: Neversink Spirits Gin

Of course, we had to wait until I found a gin decorated with a bird, rather than, say, a portrait of Queen Victoria (as found on bottles of Bombay Sapphire) or one of those burly Beefeaters that guard the Crown Jewels. It’s not our first encounter with juniper at Birds and Booze, but this is our first gin, surprisingly.

An enigmatic line of text emblazoned across the can of this week’s featured beer – the Sherwood Double New England India Pale Ale from Connecticut Valley Brewing Company – implores us to “Rise and Rise Again”. The brewery claims the name comes from Connecticut’s Sherwood Island State Park, the state’s oldest ( Yeah, sure… ).
