Of course, we had to wait until I found a gin decorated with a bird, rather than, say, a portrait of Queen Victoria (as found on bottles of Bombay Sapphire) or one of those burly Beefeaters that guard the Crown Jewels. It’s not our first encounter with juniper at Birds and Booze, but this is our first gin, surprisingly.

Of course, as the list grows it gets more and more difficult to add something new to it. Of course, the fact that more Cave Swallows have been reported from Queens than Purple Martins since I moved here means that Purple Martin is actually a very difficult bird to get in Queens. Purple Martin - The darned birds keep avoiding me.

These are extremely large stick structures (some articles compare the largest ones to the size of a car) that are usually populated by multiple breeding pairs in separate chambers. Of course, the only thing my daughter knew was that she had to go out in the cold and look at birds.

Compared to something like a Connecticut Warbler , they are just begging to be looked at. Phalaropes have the reputation (well-earned, of course) of being highly aquatic, often foraging while swimming on the water.
