Chongming Island in winter

A number of species use Chongming as a wintering spot, not just the Cinereous Vultures I already mentioned in a previous post. Birding Hongbenghe, Yunnan (Part 1)

Birding Dulan County, Qinghai

Dulan County is a large county in east-central Qinghai, China. The Bearded Vulture looks surprisingly like the Night King in “Game of Thrones” Probably not a coincidence. According to the HBW, based on strong morphological, ecological, and genetic differences, this is likely to be a distinct species altogether.

One of the many things I did not know about Delhi is that it is the capital city with the second-largest number of bird species (after Nairobi). Looks like it should have played an extra in “Game of Thrones” Brahminy Kite. Very close to a village – these birds are much more shy in China … Green Bee-eater.
