The call was issued after the animal rights group discovered that the fur were sourced from the raccoon dog in China, ABC Radio Australia reports. About 10 million dogs in China are killed for their fur, prompting an animal rights group to seek a ban on fur trade to Australia. However, the fur is passed off as sheep skin.

There is only one greyhound racing course in Asia and that is in Macau which now belongs to China. American organization Grey2K visited it and expressed concerns about treatment of the greyhounds both during their racing careers and once they are over.

We have recorded shorebirds in Broome that have been marked in this way in Hong Kong, Bohai Bay in China, a nature reserve near Shanghai, Japan and various other locations. We were fortunate enough to record several Sanderling with yellow engraved leg flags and five of the individuals had last been seen in either China or Japan on migration.

When we left off , the New York Times' Roger Cohen had eaten dog while in China, and wasn't thrilled about it emotionally. Logically, he admits it does make perfect sense to eat dogs if you eat pigs and cows. However I cannot see a rational argument for saying eating dogs or cats is barbaric while eating pork or beef is fine.

I also only managed to see rather common bird species at Shennongjia, a nature reserve in Hubei province, China. A Red-billed Blue Magpie pretending to be a wet dog. The photos in this post were taken in 2015 and 2016 – I was not only an amazingly attractive, almost young person then, but also a surprisingly bad photographer.

According to this Associated Press story, if you are wearing a Sean John jacket with fur trim purchased from Macy's, that trim might have come from a dog indigenous to Asia known as a "raccoon dog." But when HSUS purchased several of these jackets, the jackets arrived bearing the labels "Made in China" and "genuine raccoon fur."
