The northern half of the lake added Corn Bunting , European Turtle Dove , Dalmatian Pelican , Purple Heron , Eurasian Hobby , Eurasian Golden Oriole , Eurasian Green Woodpecker , and only the first of the several Masked Shrikes of the tour (cover photo by Kostas Papadopoulos).

Who cares for your ducks in the winter?

You may be happy to have a flock of chickadees visit your backyard, but it is difficult to ignore hundreds of American White Pelicans streaming by. Some birds breed in flocks, at least in part to avoid predation. This tactic worked against the Peregrine Falcon in the upper left corner of the flock, who came up empty-taloned.
