My theory is that the transition from a close relationship with their moms to be suddenly chased off makes bears angry and they have resentment. Note how friendly bear cubs are to humans vs adult bears. Unless adults were raised from cub to adult by humans.

As shown by the photo, below, of McMullan and Merlin, his Eurasian Eagle Owl friend, McMullan is a rough-hewn 6’4” foot bear of a man; he describes himself as resembling a character from the World Wrestling Federation. He tells, for example, of sitting close by a fox den, and watching a raccoon walk past it with a look of acknowledgement.

Described in the “Territoriality and aggression” chapter, this is a sublime example of behaviour from the “Understanding Animal Behaviour” by Rory Putman, an Emeritus Chair in Behavioural and Environmental Biology at Manchester Metropolitan University, UK. At some stage, a salmon-hunting bear at a shingle beach came too close, mere 9 steps.

According to Wikipedia, these birds are good at multitasking, being “in some parts of its range … known as a symbol of luck, longevity, and fidelity” As in humans, “the social implications of dancing [among the cranes] are complex in meaning” ( source ). A nice example of gender equality of sorts.
