She has a new book out (which I am reading right now) called One Good Dog. In literature as well as life, the ideal is the safely rescued animal finds the perfect home and becomes the perfect pet. I think that’s true of most adopted animals, we take them in, and they teach us something about ourselves.

I thought maybe it was something in their mouths and had the vet check it out to be sure. After speaking with someone else who has taken in strays and the vet, they have informed me they may just be gassy adjusting to the food we are feeding them.
