Question about wild ducks and how they raise ducklings

Reddit Animals

Will ducks “babysit” or adopt ducklings that have been abandoned? For a little more context these are wild ducks and geese, but live on a shallow canal in an urban area where there a lot of people and generally the same group of birds, if those things can affect their behavior in any way.

Streaks, Variegations, and Pirates

10,000 Birds

The birds I’m referring to in this post are all flycatchers that occupy woody, forest habitat; but they are very infrequently in the same place at the same time. While the bird above recalls a Great Kiskadee in size and structure, both Variegated and Piratic Flycatchers are considerably smaller and slimmer.

You rush over to investigate, and there are birds in your fireplace. Chimney Swifts are remarkable birds who are having a harder and harder time finding brick chimneys in which to nest and raise their families. These fabulous birds fly all the way to South America for the winter, then return in the spring.

Revenge Birding (Shanghai, early June 2022)

10,000 Birds

With the lockdown lasting until the end of May (ironically thus pretty much including the whole spring migration – the divine sense of humor is a rather malign one, I am afraid), June still had the freedom of birding anywhere in Shanghai, not just inside a smallish compound. Accessorizing for birds.
