So there’s this bird that made a nest and I got too close (I didn’t touch or move anything I was just trying to see if it was there) and the bird came out, saw me, and flew away. I hope I didn’t scare the bird off or maybe harm it. I’ve read that they can abandon their nests but I don’t know how true that is.

The bird was such a hit with residents that Kasia, who went on to found the rescue organization Kasia’s Ark Bird Rescue , continued the effort once she returned to New Orleans. Sounds like a win-win.
