Corey had several good birds to choose from this weekend but what he enjoyed the most is getting out to Breezy Point with Redgannet with the hope of finding a Snowy Owl and instead finding four ! Now that’s a good outing and the most cooperative of the four Snowy Owls is Corey’s Best Bird of the Weekend. How about you?

The birding around Lago de Yojoa in Honduras is frankly phenomenal, as I learned during a June 2018 birding junket organized by the Instituto Hondureño de Turismo. Nonetheless, a birder’s initial experience in Honduras sets him or her on an inexorable course towards the only species currently named for this gem of a country.

I counted them very roughly, but I do have a lot of experience estimating flocks. Afterwards I added species #401, a female Red-crested Pochard along the eastern dyke and the last bird observed in 2017 turned out to be one lovely Little Owl , perhaps 15 metres from the Limneo Guesthouse.
