To the right of the toucan, a Scaled Pigeon still rests comfortably, while one of many pairs of Orange-winged Parrots flies past in the background. The most remarkable sighting for that journey and surely for the entire trip was a juvenile Rufescent Tiger-Heron that was stalking in some grasses next to the road. Rufescent Tiger-Heron.

Next stops offered White-crowned Parrot and Barred Parakeets , Chestnut-sided and Canada Warblers , Collared Aracari , half a dozen Purple-throated Fruitcrows … I heard a strong double-nock of a huge Pale-billed Woodpecker , but the bird didn’t present itself to our eyes.

As if the Chachalaca and Magpie-Jay noises weren’t enough, there were also many pairs of White-fronted Parrots screeching as they flew overhead, though I never managed a photo of those. But this Bare-necked Tiger-Heron was a real treat for me. This Chachalaca took a break from its busy morning of squawking to check me out.
