In the relatively brief period, my group had something on the order of 450 species.

Tanzanian Starlings, Shrikes, and Weavers (Part 2)

” This one was calling to its family group as they wandered through the thorns searching for tidbits. Tanzania’s more commonly seen shrikes are the Common Fiscal , Long-tailed Fiscal , Grey-backed Fiscal , the beautiful dark Magpie Shrike , and the White-crowned Shrike (seen in the series below).

The Storks of Africa

They are often found roosting in small groups along the edges of lakes and riverine sandbars.

The Afrotheres consist of several groups of mammals that evolved in Africa and include elephants, hyraxes, elephant shrews, aardvark, pangolin and golden moles.

Pink in Africa

This attractive (for a lark anyway) species is restricted to the dry savannah Somali-Maasai biome of north-east Africa (northern Tanzania, Kenya, southern Ethiopia and Somalia). They usually occur in pairs or small groups but can gather in the thousands when conditions are right – for example when Etosha Pan in Namibia floods.
