Canada Geese are a nuisance. It is not the fault of Canada Geese that they have become a trash bird. And, even worse than being hated, they often suffer being called Canadian Geese , which is just not fair to these non-Tim Horton’s-coffee-drinking creatures.) That is really a shame. It’s not my fault!

The unsponsored suffering I must endure for this blog… Those pastries are amazing, but if you are a bit peckish: at the Casa they serve a good lunch too. If you feel guilty about that, scan the river for ducks and geese and check out the muddy margins. The Casa das Queijadas offers queijadas – cottage cheese pasties.

Patrick’s Day by doing more than donning green didn’t “celebrate” so much this weekend that you’re suffering today. He was pleased to see several hundred Snow Geese at Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge. There are few things nicer than a big ol’ flock of Snow Geese! How about you?

Despite my best efforts and despite seeing around 200 Canada Geese , I had no luck with the Specklebelly. I saw lots of Canada Geese – about 450 – but no Greater White-fronted Goose. After all, I had to suffer through it, why shouldn’t you? The morning wasn’t a total loss though.

There are a few, mostly confined to domestic or game birds that people may be familiar with at all stages of their lives – young pigeons are squabs, ducks are duckings, swans are cygnets, geese are gosling. They may be, but the names haven’t caught on.
