There’s an incoming car in my lane, and I am not in India! Pied Avocet by Boris Okanovic Next we find ourselves at the famous fish farm in the village of Sakule. A mile later, there’s a traffic jam in front of us, where everyone stands still. There are no traces of the mist any more, the sun is finally out. Protest indeed!

This was only my second time ever to observe this subspecies (the first time was here as well), two other subspecies I have observed in India. Hornbills, Paradise Flycatchers , day roosting Giant Eagle Owls or if we’re really lucky Pel’s Fishing Owl , the holy grail! I am a wildlife artist based in the UK, I have never had a real job!

The catch is, the station often pumps some small fish into the pool, hence the jolly bird party. The Dalmatian Pelicans line the lake shore, especially by the small beach opposite Limnochori village, where local fisherman tie their flat-bottomed boats and, after fishing – feed the birds with small fish, not worth taking to the market.
