The book, which I have not read, that saved Derrick Jensen 's life is called The Vegetarian Myth: Food, Justice, and Sustainability by Lierre Keith, who was a vegan for 20 years, suffered serious medical problems, and started feeling better when she recommenced eating animals. Throughout the book, Keith mocks vegetarians and vegans.

Of course , I say to myself, language is worth fighting for. And it usually involves exchanges with non-vegans. I could debate about language all day, with vegans and non-vegans. --would call HSUS an animal rights group (after all, HSUS doesn't even do that). There are new Francione-style abolitionists and new people to veganism who debate about the ethics of consuming eggs from their neighbor's chickens. Yes, we have a long, long way to go.

Finally, it arrived--a medium-size bag (4.4lb for $22.95 + shipping) of Ami vegan cat food (via Vegan Essentials ). Of course, I have to be on the lookout for any changes in Emily anyway, as she's an FIP kitty and has a bloated belly but at this point no other symptoms. What a relief!

The vet did give me a hard time about the dogs' animal-free diets (my traditional vets don't, ironically), and my response was that unless she could show me some research that his particular type of injury needs animal protein to heal, I wasn't going to change anything. been there.

I began my journey by discovering something you all probably know, which is that you can substitute cooked black-eyed peas or adzuki beans for flour, like in the recipe for the above vegan flourless chocolate cake. I say "if you know someone" because this isn't a book I'd recommend to vegans for their vegan education efforts. The vegans I know would probably find it a bit maddening, and here's why: We aren't sure whether Foer is a vegan. Not great, but good. He never says he is. But why does he say "vegetarian?"

Every day myself and other 'friends' went out of our way to terrify the poor helpless dog that used to live in this filthy run down shed for shelter. I hope that you'll find it in your heart to give up just two hours of your time as these beautiful and gentle dogs are literally running for their lives. I wonder how well that works.

Assuming that the fish are kept in a large aquarium that mimics their natural habitat, and that the keeper treats the fish as family (as they would a rescued dog, cat, rabbit, etc.), Of course that also brings up the dilemma of feeding cats and fish, who are omnivores and actually need to eat some meat in order to be healthy.

Meat-packing companies might encourage, for example, an increased dog population to take up the slack.
