The book, which I have not read, that saved Derrick Jensen 's life is called The Vegetarian Myth: Food, Justice, and Sustainability by Lierre Keith, who was a vegan for 20 years, suffered serious medical problems, and started feeling better when she recommenced eating animals. Throughout the book, Keith mocks vegetarians and vegans.

Of course , I say to myself, language is worth fighting for. And it usually involves exchanges with non-vegans. I could debate about language all day, with vegans and non-vegans. --would call HSUS an animal rights group (after all, HSUS doesn't even do that). Won't the battle always be won by common usage/the majority?

I say "if you know someone" because this isn't a book I'd recommend to vegans for their vegan education efforts. The vegans I know would probably find it a bit maddening, and here's why: We aren't sure whether Foer is a vegan. Not great, but good. He never says he is. But why does he say "vegetarian?"

Every day myself and other 'friends' went out of our way to terrify the poor helpless dog that used to live in this filthy run down shed for shelter. I hope that you'll find it in your heart to give up just two hours of your time as these beautiful and gentle dogs are literally running for their lives. I wonder how well that works.

Assuming that the fish are kept in a large aquarium that mimics their natural habitat, and that the keeper treats the fish as family (as they would a rescued dog, cat, rabbit, etc.), Of course that also brings up the dilemma of feeding cats and fish, who are omnivores and actually need to eat some meat in order to be healthy.

If you currently eat meat, make a commitment to reduce your consumption of animals in January and stop eating them altogether in February. If you are already a vegetarian, make this the year that you decide to go vegan. If you are serious about losing weight and improving your health, try out a cruelty-free vegan diet for three months.
