We also try to re-nest uninjured baby birds so we don’t interfere with a bird’s breeding cycle. Predators and storms can wreak havoc and human intervention is sometimes needed for survival. It needs to be properly medicated and triaged. Most likely the bird will need to be medicated for a few days “just in case.”.

Now, any medication we take and surgical procedures we undergo also have a long line of breeding, enslavement, torture and killing of sentient nonhumans leading up to them, so objecting to "knockout animals" on those grounds is to stand on somewhat thin ice. In other words, the perception of pain is affected. What about being raped?
