Here in the Brecks – an area of poor, sandy soils on the borders of Norfolk and Suffolk – we have a small but important breeding population. They favour the old heaths, but a number of pairs also breed on farmland. Brettenham Heath National Nature Reserve holds the highest density of nesting Curlews in the Brecks.

In a better world, I would get rich by selling this photo to the producer of Valentine`s day cards … … and this one to a pornographic magazine. There are even some warblers that look a bit less anonymous than the majority of the family. The Reed Parrotbill is at Nanhui year-round, though it is much more visible in spring.
