Galápagos: A Natural History, Second Edition–A Book Review

10,000 Birds

I wish I had read this book. The book was originally published in 2006 as Galápagos: A Natural History with John Kricher as the sole author. Kricher is well-known in naturalist book circles as a scientist who can write about complex scientific topics in engaging smart prose touched with just the right amount of dry wit.

10,000 Birds

A fine idea for a nature book is promised by the title and subtitle: Earth’s Wild Music: Celebrating and Defending the Songs of the Natural World. Birds, butterflies, flowers, reptiles – you name it, Gehan has covered it.

Mammals of South Asia (Lynx Edicions)

10,000 Birds

I was lucky to visit India several times, but as a keen birder I carried along only a bird book, and even upgraded it to a new edition between the trips. I clearly needed a mammal book. Despite depicting 540 species/56 families, it is a lightweight book of 173 pages, easy to pack and carry.
