Here in Mexico, I can almost always count on Black Vultures and Turkey Vultures to pad each outing’s list by two species. Turkey Vultures have a wingspan and weight similar to that of Egyptian Vultures. a The Lesser Yellow-headed Vulture looks very similar to the Turkey Vulture , but is a bit smaller.

This is the time of year that we rightfully contemplate the noble Turkey. Thus, the cattle we raise for meat and dairy are sometimes called Bos taurus while the extinct wild form is always called Bos primigenius. It has been more than 5 years since I last went to Australia, and I was even less of a qualified bird photographer then than I am now. So, the basic idea is to show 15 species of Australian birds in each post and give you the usual trivia about them. I guess it is a bird though. Admittedly, it is mostly grey.

They’re not the Lammergeyer – they’re not even close, as the Lammergeyer dwells alone in the genus Gypaetus – but the Egyptian Vulture and Cinereous Vulture are worthy birds in their own right. And then there’s the Griffon Vulture. Ultimately, this was the only vulture I was to see on my Spanish adventure.

when do I start feeding birds and 2. First, unless you are talking hummingbirds and orioles just feed birds when you are in the mood to watch them and can afford it. There are always cool bird to be seen. Note the color of the bird seed in the feeder these Pine Grosbeaks are using. what should I feed? Why is that?

One of the defining characteristics of birds, besides the obvious features of wings and feathers, is their bills. From toucans to curlews and from hummingbirds to flamingos, birds display an almost otherworldly diversity in these body-parts. Bills are instrumental in defining three of the senses in birds – taste, touch and smell.

I realize that the most humane method of treating chickens is to not kill them for food.BUT, as long as there is still a demand for their meat, PETA is advocating "Controlled-Atmosphere Killing" as an improvement over current methods of electric immobilization. The birds are not "gassed" (i.e., Controlled-atmosphere killing is a U.S.
