Highlights from Birding Costa Rica, 2019

I write this on the final day of the year, the last bit of 2019. If birders still fancied adding that Purple Finch, Ivory Gull, or Three-wattled Bellbird in 2019, December 31st would have been their final chance. The bird foraged on fruit in the upper understory, moving the vegetation almost as much as a monkey does.

Best Bird of the Weekend (Second of November 2019)

The same applies to your weekend’s birding. Corey got out on Saturday morning for some birding while he puttered around various spots in Queens. His Best Bird of the Weekend was an active Ruby-crowned Kinglet in the coastal scrub on the Rockaway Peninsula that better get moving if it wants to survive the winter!
