In the last ten years I have seen my first phoebe of the year on dates ranging from a 12 March (2017) to a relatively late 31 March (2010). 2017 – 12 March. 2012 – 15 March. And was it late or early? Though it took me until today to see my first migratory phoebe I did see one in Queens in January at Mt. 2019 – 17 March.

A fine example of site faithfulness in shorebirds can be shown by the Grey-tailed Tattler “35” that was flagged in Taiwan in August 2012 and has returned to our local beach during the non-breeding season for five years now. These following photos were taken February 12th 2017.
