Surrounded by farm land but with a reasonable well vegetated creek running through, the town looked pretty limited in terms of birding potential. A crop of Eucalypt trees had been planted and clearly coppiced, apparently to feed recovering koalas from Steve Irwin’s [he of Crocodile Hunter fame] family’s zoo and wildlife hospital.

Pheasant Stocking an Unfortunate Waste of Money

Flooding related to Tropical Storm Lee severely damaged the two farms used for raising Ring-necked Pheasants in Pennsylvania earlier this year, limiting the number of birds that will be released for slaughter by hunters (and slaughter is exactly what shooting farm-raised birds is). The choice isn't the wild or the farm. It's not pretty.
