I do not (yet) have any accessibility issues, and my only experience regarding anything akin to accessibility has been limited to the period when my daughter was in a stroller, which presents only a tiny sliver of the challenges faced by many. It is an eye-opening experience to view a familiar place from a new perspective.

You truly cannot experience the Gray-barred Wren without hearing the raucous calls shared among group members of this highly-social species. It is not that close of a relative of the Northern Mockingbird , being in the same family, but a different genus. Ferruginous Pygmy-Owls will also sometimes do so.).

It is challenging when you rely on a bicycle for transport for most of the week, but I have learnt to read the sky over the years and storms are isolated and often further away than you think. That really is flooding rain and quite an experience. I have been caught out, but it is only water and it is not cold!

Additional helpful design features include the names of family groups against a yellow-and-white striped background on every page corner and having every bird image facing right (except for that Common Loon chick!), I’ve missed this information, especially when I travel to Los Angeles to visit my daughter and her family.

When Daisy started talking about a family trip to Maine for the long Memorial Day Weekend I had one thing on my mind: puffins! They were reintroduced to Eastern Egg Rock starting in 1973 , with over a thousand young transported from Canada over several years.

Rather than the usual dismal waiting area there were comfortable seats and drinks, and when our transports arrived, we were placed in two large four wheel drives rather than one, so that we wouldn’t feel cramped. The highlight again happened before we left the camp, a family of Crested Firebacks. A tick is a tick. And wine.
