Just that we humans can know one thing to our core, we can believe it entirely, and yet, we can do what basically is the opposite. Someone who goes from vegan to vegetarian to eating cows isn't really in a position to judge anyone. Vegan education, in my experience, is a multi-pronged, multi-year effort if it's going to be sustainable.

If someone’s sole reason for abstaining from meat were pain-avoidance, then there would be no reason not to eat these cows. Even Peter Singer would eat these cows, assuming he had a taste for beef, which he probably doesn’t. If some microorganisms must be killed in the process, this is unfortunate but necessary for human life.

I did go to Babies-R-Us for some odds and ends and here's the Animal Person-related experience. As long as the animals aren't on a farm or otherwise being used by humans, I love the idea of animals in the lives of babies. Animals are all over the place at Babies-R-Us. She sniffed Sky up and down and walked away.
