Snow Leopard hunt by Adam Riley (INDRI Ultimate Wildlife Tours)

The cat actually appeared almost golden in the early morning light and this time we could admire its magnificent thick, blotched pelt, extremely long tail and large head. This is the genus of the typical large cats including Lion, Leopard, Jaguar and Tiger. Hard to believe this was real!

While my cats like the taste of the Greater Racket-tailed Drongo , they tend to look fairly ridiculous eating them, as the racket tail sticks out of their mouth. The associated bird species seek out drongos, apparently relying upon them heavily for protection.

In addition to historic habitat loss and hunting, Nenes face introduced predators such as mongoose and feral cats. With help, the Nene population has increased to around 2,000 individuals.

Further down the road, we reach a derelict building with a large veranda hidden among the trees – an abandoned hunting lodge (if I were in a situation to invest, I would choose to upgrade this into a luxury wildlife lodge). Even in protected areas of north-east India, prey densities are very low. It is too early to show.
