Better yet, HSUS could start a campaign targeting at Google's DOG AND CAT SKIN Trade. Google is selling dog and cat skin -- HSUS has known about this for almost six months now and done nothing. Fur should be low-hanging fruit (but that's another topic for another day), and particularly dog and cat fur.

We give them human names and provide them with the same amenities we enjoy as humans. I don't think anyone is campaigning for "farm" animals to become pets, as many of us don't even think the family cat should be the family cat. We have a tendency as a society to anthropomorphize our animals, especially our pets.
