An Open Letter to Outdoor/Feral Cat Supporters

Dear Outdoor Cat Owners/Feral Cat Supporters, Does the photo above sicken you? I have been a wild bird rehabilitator for 25 years. I have received countless numbers of wild birds mangled and/or killed by outdoor/feral cats, such as the Orange-crowned Warbler pictured here. It sickens me. Is it the fault of the cats?

The Collins Bird Guide 2nd edition from 2009 was a much hated taxonomical revolution/nightmare, changing just about everything. Birding Singapore

Presumably, birds living in Singapore do not understand German. Seeing a Rufous Woodpecker for the first time, I thought it looked kind of weird. “Odd, me?”

Birding Tanjung Aru Beach, Kota Kinabalu, Malaysia

As the rice paddies near Kota Kinabalu described in an earlier post , Tanjung Aru beach is not really a major birding spot in its own right. However, it is only a short taxi ride away from the airport where most travelers will arrive at – better to see birds instead of just eating fast food while waiting for a connecting flight.
