This tree is of the coniferous family and this bird has made its life around the southern temperate forest where this tree has been constantly destroyed to clear for farmland development. We did not find any maps for the park but we drove around on narrow dirt roads that crossed park.

Golden-crowned Warbler

It belongs to the Parulidae family, but along with the rest of the Basileuterus genus is non-migratory. This individual was seen in Costanera Sur, Argentina and found a gentle pish to be simply irresistible. They can frequently be seen in mixed flocks and each group has its own favourite species with which they like to associate.

This form is thought to be a different species and the name Golden-bellied Woodpecker has been adopted by some. The individuals in this gallery were found at Reserva Ecologica Costanera Sur in Buenos Aires, Argentina. In the southern part of their range, they sport a golden yellow on breast and belly.

Double-collared Seedeater

This week my birdy buddy, Martin, joined me for a trip to Argentina and one of our first birds from the Costanera Sur Reserve was a male Double-collared Seedeater. The Sporophila family contains exclusively Neotropic species (within the flexible Thraupidae ) and S. eBird claims 331 species for the site.
