Dr Scott Roberton, head of Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS), said that hunting wild animals for meat and trafficking had been happening in many countries, especially developing ones. In Viet Nam, hunting and trade in wild animals had been alarming, he said.

Scientists at Eindhoven University in the Netherlands have grown in-vitro meat, using cells from a live pig to replicate growth in a petri dish. It could mean not only an end to killing animals for food, but also significantly aid the fight against climate change. Nevertheless there's potential here for two giant breakthroughs.

On March 11th, RPA sent the governors of all 50 states a letter and two factsheets urging them to help get their land-grant universities (LGUs) out of the meat industry. I came across this article in USA Today entitled "Waste not, want not: Companies find uses for leftover animal parts." For years, those parts have ended up in cosmetics, soap, pet food and animal feed. Tags: morbid thoughts. These are living beings. And I don't care about the term "sustainability."

And when you have people who slaughter animals for a living on your side, in my mind your pro-animal message loses credibility.

I believe that we have to be inclusive in the animal rights movement and attack the system using all kinds of methods in all sorts of fields. Is a vegan's efforts at advocacy worth more than a vegetarian's or even a meat eater's if they happen to agree on the same issue? Economics, science, literature, film, politics, law, etc.

Today's New York Times gives us Adam Shriver's Op-Ed " Not Grass-Fed, But at Least Pain-Free ," which presents its dilemma at the end: If we cannot avoid factory farms altogether, the least we can do is eliminate the unpleasantness of pain in the animals that must live and die on them. It would be far better than doing nothing at all.

Throughout the entire show, the judges and contestants always refer to their meats as the "protein." Protein is not dependent on meat at all. I've seen two chefs wear stupid meat-inspired shirts. And frankly, I'm not sure these chefs have the training to do anything that doesn't involve a baby animal. That's not true.
