If you’re looking for birds, try Disney’s Animal Kingdom. The Magic Kingdom featured Donald, Daisy, and a few Mallards … we all know how much Disney likes ducks! My best wild bird of Legoland had to be some kind of heron hunting among the turtles and young alligators in a cypress swamp. Not Sea World.

Flying in excess of 200 mph in a stoop, the Peregrine Falcon is considered to be the world’s fastest animal. BBC Nature has a really cool video of the Peregrine hunting a pigeon in a stoop. I have been fortunate to get a visit from this beautiful raptor in the photography blind at Delevan NWR. Don’t miss it!

Not only were they a common bird, they were a common bird nearshore; indigenous peoples hunted them up and down the coast. A curious Laysan Duck takes a stroll at Midway Atoll. There are also many ducks on Chongming Island – they are experienced enough to be very shy. Apparently , the function is to reduce glare from sunlight and thus to increase the success in hunting.
