And then, two canids appeared in my scope field of view… My plan was that the downpour should finally be over in the morning, so I could go birding. It is near a river, attracting some birds that like to eat wet food. As the national bird of Namibia, Zambia, and Zimbabwe, the African Fish Eagle is usually very busy whenever it stays in these countries, giving speeches, opening shopping centers, etc. The birds I asked about this pretended not to be related to anyone though.

This week, a new study was published about Sparrows in Nebraska, that in some ways resembles the study by Bumpus and may well be a better example of Natural Selection in birds. House Sparrows ( Passer domesticus ) are introduced birds over most of their very large range. As you know, a lot of birds are killed in the U.S.

In Africa, one elephant is being killed every 15 minutes. But the “illegal international trade” is already there, killing – among other places – in Kruger (S. Steven had no binoculars, but impressively sharp eyes and great knowledge of birds. Another ellie is being killed as you read this line. Perhaps 15 minutes?

Turkey Vultures are known for eating carrion but what some people don’t realize is that, unlike most birds, they have an excellent sense of smell.
