Magpie Geese breed near Broome once again

The Magpie Geese bred again in the Broome area during 2018. We know there will be a dramatic reduction in the population of our native wildlife when that happens. In the past, when we have had a lot of rainfall in the Broome area during our wet season we have had the arrival of high numbers of Magpie Geese.

For the Birds: Midway Atoll Mouse Eradication and NEPA

Many of these islands are part of the Hawaiian Islands National Wildlife Refuge and one of the most important areas is Midway Atoll National Wildlife Refuge. Each of the dark marks in this photo from August, 2018 was a duck. The good news is that this summer central Mexico is experiencing its best rains since 2018. While numbers were low, our first migratory Baird’s Sandpipers and Wilson’s Phalaropes had arrived from their breeding grounds up north, right on time.
