Predicting My Next Ten Queens Birds

Somehow I forgot that the last time I predicted what the next ten species I would see in Queens would be was back on 30 December 2013, when my list was sitting at 302. What did I predict back in December of 2013? Brown Pelican, 3 Jul 2010, 11 Apr 2011, 15 May 2012, NOT YET SEEN! Long-eared Owl, 3 Jul 2010, 25 Mar 2013.

The Birding Rally Challenge Peru 2012

In early December of 2012 we had the opportunity to cover this hard-core rally in the south of Peru. Sargatal’s team, the Tramuntanas, came in last place, but all had an excellent time and they know now what to expect for the northern Peru event that will be held in June of 2013.

Waving The Yearbirding White Flag

Tropical Kingbird is likely to be one of the last birds I see in 2012 and first I see in 2013. At least I have a good chance at knocking out Jochen and Corey, which will bring huge gloating rights. At any rate, I’ll let you know what the 2012 magic number is when I am back stateside in 2013.

Best Bird of the Year 2013

As 2013 draws to a close we here at 10,000 Birds thought that it would be a great idea if we, like we did in 2010 , 2011 , and 2012 , shared our Best Birds of the Year. Tragic, right? Red-necked Stint with a Japanese flag

I also have a Grey-tailed Tattler that visits us and was marked with a plain white and an engraved blue flag “35″ in Taiwan in August 2012. I first observed it on 28th November 2012 and it left us and headed north to return to the exact same place to be observed on 19th November 2013.
