Is there a way to raise an animal in a way they will not be wild?

I rescued a baby squirrel a few years back that fell out of its nest and my mom told me they will bite you. I told my mom thats because there raised in the wild but if you raise them with hugs and kisses all they will know is comfort!

You typically do not find a bird this naked or featherless outside of the nest unless there has been a storm or the nest has been attacked by predator like a raccoon, chipmunk, squirrel or corvids. If you cannot find the nest or it’s too destroyed, do not try and raise a chick this young. That is probably one of the adults.

Near Summit Lake we have been able to witness Williamson’s Sapsuckers ( Sphyrapicus thyroideus ) raising their young in a snag near the campground. American Coots ( Fulica americana ) raise their young at the park also. And Red-breasted Sapsuckers (Sphyrapicus ruber) are common. She is in a snag, at least forty feet up!
